Dear business friends,

We would like to inform you that based on your questions HUBER+SUHNER has reviewed the design of the existing chassis and cable management and as a result a new version of the chassis and cable manager has been designed.

Our IANOS systems have been very successful since mid-2016. Customers like state-of-the-art handling, variety and reliability.

However, cable management of all high density FMS systems with moving sockets is a challenge in installation and operation. Long cable spares or tangled cables require skill and discipline to handle.

The new chassis offers several new features

New chassis with new features

– Service stop-Restriction of movement (simplification of handling)

– Marking on the bottom of the socket

– Drawer markings from bottom to top

– New fixing handles

– New cable manager interface

– Optional ground pins

The mounting brackets have been modified to work in cabinets with 19″ rails and can be installed not only in square holes, but now also in non-standard holes. The mounting floating nut has been replaced with a conventional steel nut to ensure easy installation.

The new chassis is equipped with a service position. This limits the forward movement of the drawers to 70 mm. The release button allows the entire cassette to be ejected as it was before. This modification reduces the thickness of the cable in the front and rear from approx. 150 to 70 mm.

The cable manager interface has also been modified. This allows for a fixed installation of the new rear and front cable manager, but also allows for other cable management applications.

Details of the cable managers will be available as production starts.

To ease the handling of top-of-the rack deployments, the drawers were provided with additional identification of ports 1-6 not only from the top of the drawer but also from the bottom. This makes it easier to identify the ports during handling.

As installations are usually bottom-up, we will introduce the corresponding bottom-up markings on the front and rear of the chassis along with the new chassis. We will also add matching replacement labels to the shipment, for our existing customers.

Last but not least, grounding pins can be added to the chassis if necessary, as there is a need to ground the chassis due to the use of active components in the same rack.

As the changes are quite substantial, new registration numbers will be introduced.

The old chassis will be available while stocks last and will then be excluded as the door mounting tool is no longer available. The new chassis is expected to be available sometime in February 2019, once the current chassis stock is depleted.
